Theatre On The Spectrum

A company for all abilities

TS1.jpgCADA is partnering with Ardmore,Inc. to develop an adult theatre program for people of all abilities with an interest in learning and creating theatre. By encouraging individual and collaborative success through theatre in an inclusive, safe environment that celebrates diversity and the joy of the creative arts, we support social and emotional well-being, growth and empowerment.

The program will provide training in skills essential for creating theatre and enhancing the quality of life. Through role play, theatre games, mask work and character study, participants will strengthen their social and emotional awareness. The theatre provides a safe space for practicing the ability to self-advocate, follow directions, collaborate and to create and meet deadlines. These are skills that apply to all jobs, not just theatre.

This program will lead the way in demonstrating the power of inclusive theatre. We will be taking field trips to visit Akron’s professional and community theatre companies. Theatre on the Spectrum will be actively seeking partnerships to create more inclusive theatre for area audiences.

We will be focusing on doing original work by people with autism and other disabilities. Our mission will be to provide a powerful voice for those who are often marginalized — by creating material that will resonate throughout our community.
